Strong earthquake strikes Kalar southeast Sulaimani province

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — An earthquake hit Kalar district southeast of Sulaimani province, Esta Media Network reporter said on Monday.

Esta’s reporter said, a moment ago strong quake was felt in Kalar while also rattling areas in the Khanaqain district of Diyala governorate.

A Forecast expert said, “The quake most probably originated from Iran”, also adding that “the magnitude was 4.6”.

The Kurdistan Region has been affected by strong earthquakes, in the past few years one of the most powerful ones hit the region on November 12, 2017, an earthquake of a magnitude of 7.3 hit Halabja and caused severe structural damage and collapse.
