PUK’s President Bafel Talabani meets Nouri al-Maliki

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) Bafel Jalal Talabani met head of state of law coalition Nouri al-Maliki on Thursday amid of his visit to Baghdad.  

“The meeting debated latest political developments, Iraq’s political situation and efforts toward government formation, it stressed language of dialogue, understanding as well” Talabani’s media office released in a statement.

Based on the statement, Bafel Talabani has referred to PUK’s position to pass this undesirable situation, “Our efforts continuing in order to unify the different voices, and for the sake of national compromise,” it said. “We believe that this is the only way to reach a tranquilness and stable future in the country”.

In return, Nouri al-Maliki discussed former departed president of Iraq (Mam Jalal) role in gathering different voices as well as colors of the country together, “new Iraq proudly names Mam Jalal, because he was an umbrella who brought everyone together. “And now Bafel Talabani plays the same role, we appreciate his efforts for Iraq’s future,” al-Malik said according to the statement.

“We are sure PUK continues with this path in both Iraq and the Kurdistan Region” the statement quoted al-Maliki as saying.
