Kurdistan Region reports 31 suicide cases by women in half of 2022

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — In six initial months of 2022, at least 31 women had committed suicide across the Kurdistan Region, according to a statistic released by the Women’s Legal Assistance Organization on Tuesday.

A statistic paper received by Esta Media Network showed a rough indication of inclining violence against women, and Erbil has the biggest share.

While on the other hand, 29 more women were harassed by self-immolation, and 22 acts of homicide had been carried out against women in throughout the region.

According to United Nations Women Global Database on Violence against Women 2019, almost 50% of women in Iraq will face violence in their homes.
