SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Iraq’s energy council announced on Saturday that two international oil firms have begun to suspend their operations in the Kurdistan Region.
Both ‘Schlumberger’ and ‘Halliburton’ company in Iraq have initiated their steps to implement Baghdad’s decision and suspend their operations, the council said.
Iraq’s energy council added that the National Oil Company (INOC) has already warned the international oil firms to halt their operations in the Region.
On Wednesday the company granted three-month permission for the international oil companies (IOCs) in the Kurdistan Region on Wednesday to halt their operations. Otherwise, they would be blacklisted, and the Federal government would be free to take any measure against them.
Baghdad’s decision see itself in the Federal court decision when in February the court has deemed the oil and gas industry in the Region unconstitutional and demanded KRG hand over their crude supplies.
