Bafel Jalal Talabani meets president of Iraq’s Supreme Judicial Council Judge

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — The president of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) Bafel Jalal Talabani met with the President of Iraq’s Supreme Judicial Council Judge Faiq Zidan on Wednesday in Baghdad.

In a statement released by Talabani’s media office, the meeting emphasized the country’s judicial authority and keeping it free from any interference, both sides agreed on preserving the constitution and enforcing the law for the sake of political, economic, and social stability.

“It also discussed unifying efforts and completing legal and constitutional procedures to form a national service government with the participation of all political parties, creating a government that would become an umbrella for all Iraqis and work to build a stable future,” the statement said.

“President Bafel also called on the President of Iraq’s Supreme Judicial Council to play their historical role and protect the rights of all Iraqis, including all different nations and ethnic groups,” it said.

The statement further added that the PUK’s president also demanded Zidan to be the supporter of the Kurdistan Region’s legal and constitutional rights.

Talabani’s meeting came after, on Tuesday he met with top delegations of the  Shitte Coordination framework, al-Azim alliance, and Babylon Movement in Baghdad, after Sadr’s withdrawal from the formation of government in the country.
