SULAIMANI (ESTA) — The United Arab Emirates stands firmly to face terrorism in Iraq and condemns the booby-trapped drone attack on Erbil said the UAE’s foreign minister on Tuesday according to ‘Khaleej Times’.
In a statement the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation has strongly condemned the attack targeting the city of Erbil in the Kurdistan Region with a booby-trapped drone, Khaleej Times reported.
“The ministry underscored the UAE’s solidarity and stance with Iraq in the face of terrorism as it takes measures to protect its sovereignty, security, and stability,” the statement said.
The foreign ministry strongly condemned the drone strike and also emphasized that its country denounced any attacks that aim to destabilize security and stability in Iraq in flagrant violation of international law, the statement reads.
Late on Wednesday, a bomb-laden drone targeted the Erbil-Pirmam highway in the Kurdistan Region, according to the officials word three people were wounded and dozens of vehicles and shops were damaged around the targeted area.
A few hours after the drone strike, the Kurdistan Regio Security Council blamed an Iranian-affiliated armed group [Hezbollah] in an official statement for the drone attack.
