SULAIMANI (ESTA) — A group of ISIS militants was arrested in a joint operation carried out by the Sulaimani security forces (Asayish) and the Iraqi security forces on Sunday, (Asayish) confirmed in a statement.
Earlier on Sunday, based on accurate intelligence information, a group of ISIS terrorists was arrested in the capital city of Baghdad, Iraq’s Security Media cell said in a statement.
According to the Media cell statement, fourteen ISIS terrorists were arrested, ten of them in Baghdad and the remaining four in Sulaimani.
Following the Security cell statement, Sulaimani security forces (Asayish) confirmed separately on Monday saying, “The Iraqi National Security service, in coordination with the Sulaimani Security Forces (Asayish), was able to arrest a dangerous group of ISIS terrorists”.
Confession footage published by (Asayish) shows that “The arrested terrorist group consisted of six members, four of them were Suicidal bombers, one of them was responsible for arming the group and the other for sheltering the rest of the group”.
“They were planned to carry out a series of suicide bombings in Baghdad’s markets and public places on the 27th night of Ramadan, a holy month of Muslims,” said the National Security service in the statement.
“Our forces, in coordination with the General Directorate of Security in Sulaimani (Asayish), foiled the terrorist’s plot” and, “Four of them were arrested in Sulaimani before the bombings,” it added.
