PUK President Bafel Jalal Talabani

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) President Bafel Jalal Talabani said the party would plant one million trees in the Kurdistan Region in one year.

In a statement on the 47th anniversary of the PUK foundation, Talabani said the party would enter a new phase of political work following the PUK forum, held in Sulaimani city on Saturday and lasted four days.

“Renewal and reform will be the basis of our work and the reformulation of a new policy to build a stable future and healthy governance will be our priority,” Talabani added.

“We have promised Kurdistan’s people to serve and compensate them for years of crisis and difficulties,” he stated.

Talabani further said the PUK would continue to fight against corruption and prevent waste of public wealth.

“We will plant one million trees in different parts of Kurdistan from today until another anniversary of the PUK’s founding,” he continued.

“We will take responsibility for greening Kurdistan.”
