Kurdish ministerial delegation in Baghdad for talks on medicine shortages

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — A delegation from the Kurdistan Region’s ministry of health arrived in Baghdad on Monday to solve shortages of medicine and medical equipment in Kurdistan, according to the ministry.

In a statement, the health ministry said the delegation would hold meetings with the Iraqi health minister and other officials on the shortages of medicine in the Kurdistan Region.

“The purpose of the visit is to resolve the suspending issues and to further coordinate [with Baghdad] to secure more medicines and medical supplies and equipment as well as services for the Kurdistan Region” it added.

The Kurdistan region has lately suffered from shortages of medicine and medical equipment in the governmental hospitals after the Kurdistan Region’s government failed to provide financial entitlements to the companies supplying medicine to the health ministry.
