SULAIMANI (ESTA) — A Turkish military base was attacked by the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) in Amedi district in northeast of Duhok on Monday, Esta Media Network reporter said.

Esta’s reporter in Duhok said PKK fighters attacked a Turkish military base with Milan anti-tank guided missile weapon systems in Siriye community in Shiladze sub-district.

Casualties and damages remained unclear.

The attack came after the Turkish military carried out a cross-border operation against the group, which it sees as a terrorist organization, in Duhok province late on April 18.

Turkish warplanes, helicopters and drones were part of the air and land operation in the Kurdistan Region against PKK facilities ranging from camps to ammunition stores.

The military action was part of a long-running Turkish campaign in Iraq and Syria against PKK fighters and the People’s Protection Units (YPG), both regarded as terrorist groups by Ankara.

Turkey regularly launches airstrikes into the Kurdistan Region and has sent commandos to support its offensives.
