SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Asayish (security) forces on Monday detained a perpetrator who shot dead four members of the same family in Chamchamal district, west of Sulaimani.
Earlier on Monday, a man attacked the house of his father-in-law in Chamchamal, killing five members of the same family and wounding another.
Following the incident, Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani condemned the killing as “disgusting”, which occurred on the first day of Eid al-Fitr marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan.
Talabani ordered the security forces to detain the suspect and those who help or shelter him.
“The murderer has been detained,” the directorate of Asayish said in a statement.
Meanwhile, the deputy prime minister ensured the people that the perpetrator would be brought to justice.
