Iraqi foreign minister to visit Russia next week: Russian spokesperson

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein will pay an official visit to Russia next week, a spokesperson of Russian foreign minister said.

Hussein will meet his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov in Moscow on November 25, Maria Zakharova said in a press conference on Thursday (November 19).

“On November 25-26, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of the Republic of Iraq Fuad Hussein will be in Moscow on a working visit. This is his first visit to the Russian capital as Foreign Minister of Iraq,” she said.

Both officials will discuss the latest developments in Syria and peace process in the Middle East as well as the Persian Gulf and Yemen, she added.

“The ministers are expected to have an in-depth discussion of practical tasks to further develop the full range of bilateral relations, including in the context of the activities of the Russian-Iraqi Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation,” she noted.
