SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Iraq and the Kurdistan Region announced on Friday that the first day of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan would be Saturday.
“Based on sufficient evidence, the crescent has been sighted in the Kurdistan Region’s skies,” the ministry of endowment and religious affairs said.
“Saturday, April 2, 2022, will be the first day of the holy month of Ramadan,” it added.
Meanwhile, Iraq’s Sunni Endowment said the crescent had been sighted on Friday evening and that the first day of Ramadan would be on Saturday.
Saudi Arabia also announced that the first day of Ramadan would be Saturday after the crescent was sighted.
