SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Iraqi forces thwarted an attack targeting convoys supplying logistical support for the army in southern Iraq, the security media cell said on Sunday.
In a statement, the Iraqi military said the intelligence units managed to foil an attack targeting convoys transferring logistical support for the security forces.
A bomb disposal team defused two explosive devices planted to target the convoys, it added.
No injuries or damage was reported.
Convoys supplying the Iraqi forces are frequently attacked in the southern Iraqi provinces.
U.S. and Iraqi officials blame Iran-backed militias for the attacks on the convoys.
