SULAIMANI (ESTA) — An Iraqi judge specialized in drug cases was shot dead by a group of unknown gunmen in Maysan province on Saturday, according to police sources.

Judge Ahmed Faisal was headed home in his car in the city of Amara, the capital of Maysan province, when unknown assailants blocked his route and opened fire, AFP cited police official as saying.

A forensic source told AFP that the judge died of gunshot wounds to the head and chest.

The victim had been shot 15 times with a Kalashnikov, both sources said, according to AFP.

No group claimed responsibility for the attack.

In September, another anti-drug judge escaped an assassination attempt in the same province.
