SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Iraqi forces thwarted attempted attacks against convoys supplying the security forces in three provinces, the military said on Sunday.
Iraq’s security media cell said it defused four explosives planted to target convoys transferring logistical support for the Iraqi forces.
The explosives were “dismantled at the site by the bomb disposal teams” in Baghdad, Muthanna and Dhi Qar provinces, it said in a statement.
Convoys supplying the Iraqi forces are frequently attacked in the southern Iraqi provinces.
U.S. and Iraqi officials blame Iran-backed militias for the attacks on the convoys.
In December, the Iraqi forces foiled another attack against convoys transporting equipment for the security forces.
