SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Four people were killed in an attack in west of Baghdad late on Sunday, the Iraqi military said on Monday.

Iraqi Security Media Cell said in a statement that a group of militants attacked a watchtower in the village of al-Balasma in Radhwaniya area on Sunday night.

Four people were killed and three others were wounded in the attack, the Iraqi military added.

Earlier on Monday, a security source told Shafaaq news that a group of militants believed to be members of Islamic State (ISIS) attacked a joint watchtower of the Iraqi military and tribal fighters with grenades and light weapons in Radhwaniyah area.

The source added that four tribal fighters and six civilians were killed and eight others were wounded in the attack.

Iraq declared victory over Islamic State in December 2017 but the militants have regrouped in the Hamrin mountain range which extends into the northern provinces – an area described by officials as a “triangle of death”.
