SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Four people including an old woman were killed in Turkish shelling on villages in northeast Syria, the U.S.-backed Kurdish group said early on Wednesday.

The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) said Turkey had shelled several areas in Hasakah province late on Tuesday and early on Wednesday.

The death toll rose to four due to the Turkish shelling on Zirgan town in Hasakah, it added.

Earlier on Wednesday, the SDF said seven people including three siblings were also wounded in the shelling.

It further said its forces responded to a ground attack by the Turkish forces in the village of Um al-Kaif.

The Turkish military has shelled those areas more than 800 times, the SDF stated.
