SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Turkish warplanes bombed positions belonging to the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) as fierce clashes erupted between the Turkish military and the group’s fighters in Amedi district in northeast of Duhok, Esta Media Network reporter said on Monday.

The reporter in Duhok said the warplanes started to bomb several positions near Hirure village in Kani Mase sub-district after the Turkish military clashed with PKK fighters on the ground.

There were no casualties in the bombardment and clashes, he added.

Footage sent to Esta Media Network showing a Turkish military helicopter opening fire on areas near the village.

On Sunday, clashes also erupted between Turkish soldiers and the PKK near the village.

Clashes intermittently erupt between the Turkish forces stationed in Duhok province and the PKK having bases inside the Region.

On Saturday, Turkish fighter jets also bombed suspected PKK positions on the Matin mountain near Amedi, northeast of Duhok.

There were no casualties in the strikes.

Turkey has taken its decades-old conflict with the PKK deep into the Kurdistan Region, establishing military bases and deploying armed military drones against the fighters in their mountain strongholds.

Most of the operations have focused on territory up to 30 km (20 miles) from the border.
