SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Iran’s security forces detained nearly 20 Kurds on the border with the Kurdistan Region on Thursday, according to rights organization.
The Iranian forces monitored the group by drones in the villages near Baneh, northwest of Iran, Kurdish human rights organizations said.
The group was later taken by vehicles belonging to the “Iranian Red Crescent Society”, the organizations added.
“They were beaten and treated inappropriately when they were arrested,” human rights organizations in Iranian Kurdistan said.
The security forces also raided homes of the group and seized mobiles, laptops, cameras and books, they added.
According to Kurdistan Press Agency (Kurdpa), as many as 565 cases of human rights violations were carried out in 2021.
At least 247 Kurds have been detained in Iran this year.
