SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Iraqi forces arrested 32 wanted people and seized a large quantity of explosive devices in Kirkuk province, authorities said on Sunday.

Kirkuk Joint Operations Command said its forces had seized 18 explosive devices, 14 rockets, nine bombs, one improvised explosive device, and 12 other materials.

Earlier this month, the Iraqi federal police also seized a large quantity of unexploded ordnances (UXO) in Kirkuk, including IEDs, Katyusha rockets and detonators.

In 2017 Baghdad announced victory over Islamic State (ISIS), and attacks in Iraqi cities have since become much rarer, although troops continue to fight ISIS sleeper cells in mountainous and desert areas.

The militants still mount deadly operations, mostly at night and in remote areas.
