Turkish drone strike kills three SDF fighters: U.S.-backed group

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — The U.S.-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) said on Sunday three of its fighters were killed in a Turkish drone strike in northern Syria.

A Turkish drone targeted a vehicle on the main road between Kobane and Aleppo on Saturday.

The SDF said the fighters who went to Kobane to receive treatment were targeted by a Turkish drone on Saturday.

“Three of our fighters went to Kobane for treatment. On their way back, they were attacked by a Turkish occupation drone (SIHA) at 5:40 p.m., resulting in, the martyrdom of our fighters,” it said in a statement.

The attack came three days after another Turkish drone two civilian vehicles in Kobane city, killing two people and wounding four others.

Turkey views the SDF and the People’s Protection Units (YPG) as “terrorist organizations”.

Turkish forces have launched three incursions in the last five years, seizing hundreds of kilometers of border strip and pushing around 30 km (20 miles) into northern Syria.
