Police in Duhok detain 49 people on gambling charges

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Police in Duhok said on Thursday they had detained 49 people on gambling  charges.

Spokesman of Duhok Police Hemn Sleman said the suspects were detained in Duhok city in one week.

The detainees included 17 “gamblers”, according to police.

Police also seized nine laptops used by the suspects to play “gambling” through an electronic system.

“The detainees have confessed that they played gambling, including Poker,” he said.

They were detained in accordance with Article 389 of the Iraqi Penal Code, he continued.
